Duties & Responsibilities
MSC is currently searching for a Sr. Computer Systems Analyst to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This opportunity is permanent, full-time, and it is on site in Hyattsville, MD, but telework may be possible.
Duties and Responsibilities
Process data according to standardized procedures and prepare reports describing data quality and condition, including assessment of completeness, and descriptive statistics such as frequencies, crosstabs, means, and univariate statistics
Write program code to perform data editing, validation, and preparation of files for public release or archiving, and preparing associated user documentation including data dictionaries with code values, ranges, and frequencies.
Archive data sets, data review and production specifications, data quality reports, program code with log and list files, and any other related data production files
Develop automated systems to produce data codebooks and documentation, run data validation checks, track and report data production status, and perform other tasks as necessary
Produce files for statistical analysis using statistical software tools
Provide technical assistance to help researchers analyze the quality and correctness of data, including writing, editing, and reviewing program code using statistical software tools
Develop specifications, write code, test applications, evaluate, and make recommendations on procedures related to the storage and reporting of scientific data
Research and identify innovative areas and approaches for exploiting existing computer technologies for application to program objectives
Develop coding schemes for randomizing sample identification numbers, while maintaining linkage files to trace true respondent ID numbers to randomized ID numbers
Support the research, development, and analysis of geocoded data using GIS software packages, such as efforts to develop geographic metadata
Develop and revise technical documentation about the IT systems and applications as part of knowledge base.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences or an IT-related field
5 – 7 years of experience with IT Systems and statistical analysis
Some experience with software tools such as SAS/SUDAAN, Stata, R, or other statistical packages
Experience with GIS software packages and working with geocoded data
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; good presentation skills
Ability to pass a background investigation
Ability to identify, propose, and implement technical solutions regarding the management of scientific data
Keeping up to date with technical and industry developments.
